Department ONM II - PET

A GE Discovery 690 PET / CT camera is available, and available radiopharmaceuticals include 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose, 18F-fluoro-L-thymidine, 18F-methylcholine, 18F-fluciclovin, and 18F-DOPA.

PET / CT examination is performed only at the ONM II workplace in the VFN premises. When ordering patients for PET / CT diagnostics in patients with prostate cancer (18F-choline / 18F-flucyclovin (Axumin)) it is necessary to fill in form for PET / CT in prostate cancer. Due to the high cost of these examinations, it is necessary to consider the indications and expected benefits very carefully in the clinical context of each patient. Each case must be discussed in a multidisciplinary seminar with the presence of a urologist focused on prostate cancer, an oncologist (radiotherapist) and a nuclear medicine doctor. According to the conclusion of the seminar, the indication will be not recommended (the indicating doctor will be informed), additional information will be requested or the indication will be confirmed together with the choice of examination substance. The patient will be contacted by the deadline. Without filling in the above form, orders will not be accepted, the application may already contain only essential facts in a concise form.
