Hospital Ombudsman

Because we highly respect our patients, we have established a hospital ombudsman at the General University Hospital in Prague. There may be situations where patients believe that their rights have been violated or compromised, or you want to tell us that you have been satisfied with the VFN care.

The patient or any visitor to the hospital has the opportunity to visit or in writing, electronically or by telephone to address the Ombudsman of the hospital - the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman of the General University Hospital in Prague is MUDr. Jan Briza, CSc., MBA, Deputy for Science, Research and Education.

The mission of the hospital ombudsman

The Hospital Ombudsman at VFN is committed to protecting patients' rights. It provides assistance to patients, their families and relatives in dealing with treatment and hospitalization situations. At the same time, it strives to ensure trouble-free communication between patients, their relatives and VFN staff. It strives to improve the quality of provided health services and maximum patient satisfaction. It assists patients in dealing with their complaints, difficulties in providing care or staff behavior. It also helps to get the information patients need. It facilitates communication between the hospital ward and the patient or his / her family, ascertains the true state of affairs and can remedy the situation. Of course, it also receives praise from patients and their loved ones.

Complaints lodged by individuals in connection with the provision of health services

Ust. § 93 et seq. of Act No. 372/2011 Coll., on Health Services and Conditions for their Provision (hereinafter the “Health Services Act”) sets out the general procedural rules for handling complaints lodged by individuals in connection with the provision of health services.
These complaints are handled by the Internal Audit and Control Department (OVAK) Complaint procedure.

The hospital ombudsman is appointed by the hospital management. His duty is to maintain confidentiality. Hospital Ombudsman's duties are only within the General University Hospital in Prague.
