Tissue reconstruction by microsurgical technique, development of implant systems, photonic medicine (verification of new photosensitizers), biomechanics of the facial system.
Department of Dental Surgery

Department of Orthodontics
Diagnosis and therapy of anomalous positions, number and shape of teeth, intermaxillary relationships, facial deformities. Clarification of developmental trends in the morphology of the facial skeleton, focusing on the issue of facial clefts and other developmental defects.

ÚKES
The Institute of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry (ÚKES) focuses on the epidemiological study of oral diseases, especially dental caries and periodontitis, on the evaluation of the dental care system, on clinical and laboratory research into the relationship between oral and some general diseases (diabetes, renal insufficiency, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases) , especially from the point of view of oral microbiology and immunology and from the point of view of the risk of exposure to heavy metals used in dentistry.
ÚKES also deals with anthropological research of the maxillofacial system with applications of digital 3D imaging methods, research of physical and mechanical properties of dental materials used in modern treatment technologies, non-invasive diagnostics of incipient carious lesions and techniques of minimal interventional dentistry.
ÚKES provides postgraduate scientific education PDSB for internal and combined study in the fields of Immunology, Microbiology, Preventive Medicine and Biomechanics with its laboratory and clinical base and its own supervisors in these fields. ÚKES provides lifelong learning courses for dentists and nurses.
