Radiodiagnostic Clinic

Workplace characteristics

The Radiodiagnostic Clinic of the First Medical Faculty of Charles University and the General Hospital is currently one of the largest clinics of its kind in our country. We provide a complete range of radiological imaging methods. In addition to diagnostic imaging, the clinic's activities also include vascular and nonvascular interventional radiology. In addition to X-ray devices, we have 3 computer tomographs (CT), 2 magnetic resonance imaging (MR 1.5T and MR 3T), 5 ultrasound devices, 1 angiographic set and 2 mammographs. In cooperation with the doctors of our clinic, patients are examined on a PET / CT device, which is a hybrid device that consists of PET (positron emission tomography) and CT, thus connecting nuclear medicine and radiology. The radiodiagnostic clinic is fully digitized and works in filmless operation. With the ePACS system, it is possible to send images of examinations to a number of other hospitals in the Czech Republic and, conversely, to receive photographic documentation from these facilities.

The clinic consists of 17 workplaces and departments, which examine approximately 100,000 patients a year and perform approximately 125,000 examinations. Due to the organization of the hospital, detached X-ray workplaces provide services primarily for patients of individual clinics and wards in whose buildings they are located, but most workplaces also perform examinations for outpatients outside the hospital. Some specialized workplaces provide examinations for patients from all over the Czech Republic (Department of Neuroradiology, CT Department, Angiography Department, Center for Breast Disease Diagnostics). The Radiodiagnostic Clinic also includes radiological departments of the Faculty Polyclinic of the General Hospital. One of the main priorities of the clinic is to provide patients with a high level of care, which is associated, among other things, with further gradual modernization of equipment.

The activities of the clinic are characterized by close cooperation with other institutes, clinics and departments of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the General Hospital, not only in clinical but also in theoretical fields, especially in medical and preventive care, but also in science, research and pedagogical work.
