At the Department of Magnetic Resonance (MRI), Radiodiagnostic Clinic, two MR devices are in operation, enabling whole-body imaging. Achieva, Philips (1.5T) was installed in 2009, at the end of 2015 the second Skyra MR device, Siemens (3T), was put into operation. The department is open all day. The workplace employs 5 radiological assistants, 5 general practitioners and physicians performing specific types of imaging.
The MR department together with the computed tomography (CT) department form a neuroradiological unit within the Radiodiagnostic Clinic, located in the building of the Department of Neurology in Kateřinská Street No. 30. The entire spectrum of MR imaging is performed at the MR department. Apart from neuroradiology, which is still the main focus, examinations are performed from practically all areas of medicine suitable for a given modality. It is an examination of the musculoskeletal system (knee joint, hip joint, ankle joint, small joints of the hand and foot, shoulder joint, elbow joint and temporomandibular joint), MR mammary gland, MR small pelvis, MR liver, MR pancreas, MR kidney, MR bile ducts, MR vessels, MR heart, multiparametric MR prostate and prenatal MR imaging of the fetus. We perform these examinations within the indications of VFN physicians and outpatient specialists outside the university hospital and physicians from other hospitals. Some examinations are highly specialized, they are linked to the unique clinical centers of the General Hospital, where patients from all over the country are examined.
