The Department of Urology is a comprehensive medical, teaching and scientific workplace in the field of urology. Provides undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the field of urology and pediatric urology. Teaching is also aimed at bachelor's and master's students.
The main focus of the clinic is comprehensive urological care - surgical and outpatient - including interdisciplinary oncology therapy, dispensary treatment of cancer patients and reconstructive surgery.
State-of-the-art procedures are used in surgical therapy of urogenital tumors (radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, bladder removal for bladder tumors, including bladder replacements, kidney removal for tumors, kidney conservation surgery for tumors, adrenal tumors) - including low invasive laparoscopic operations. Laparoscopic surgery is also used to treat urinary stones and congenital enlargement of the pelvis of the kidney.
Pediatric urology deals with the whole range of diseases, dysfunctions of the lower urinary tract, including the treatment of congenital malformations of the genitourinary system. Diagnosis and treatment are also performed by laparoscopic procedures.
The clinic also deals with the diagnosis and treatment of so-called neurogenic urinary disorders, erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence (including the application of so-called TVT tapes in women, artificial urethral sphincter and ARGUS tapes in urinary incontinence in men). The Department of Urology is also an internationally recognized workplace for conducting clinical studies, in cooperation with other departments it solves several grant projects and the scientific plan of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic every year.
