Workplace characteristics

Scientific activity in the field of applied medical research and cooperation in the field of basic biomedical research belong to the main activities of the General Hospital.

The research activity is focused on significant and frequent diseases with a great impact on the health of the population. These are mainly cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (eg heart muscle regeneration in infarction, research in the field of diabetes mellitus), oncological research (eg molecular basis of tumor formation, pharmacogenomics), neuroscience research (eg the development of neurodegenerative diseases), research in the field mother and child care (neonatology and perinatology), comprehensive research in the field of hereditary metabolic diseases.

In accordance with the organizational rules, education at the General Hospital in Prague is based on the capacity of personnel and spatial provision of this activity with regard to the implementation of educational events provided by the founder (Ministry of Health) and relevant legal provisions acquisition and recognition of professional competence and specialized competence and Act No. 96/2004 Coll., on the conditions for obtaining and recognition of competence to perform non-medical health professions. A prerequisite for a high level of health care is a continuous increase of professional knowledge both in the development tendency of medicine and in nursing care. Healthcare professionals of individual categories (doctors, pharmacists, university non-physicians and other workers of non-medical health professions) perform activities in fields for which they have acquired the ability to perform the profession according to the prescribed contents.
