II. The Internal Clinic of Cardiology and Angiology of the First Faculty of Medicine and General Teaching Hospital is a complex workplace cardiovascular diseases. The workplace is together with II. Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and KARIM Clinic as part of the Cardiocenter of the General Teaching Hospital.

The department provides continuous services for patients with acute coronary syndromes (acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris) and for patients with acute peripheral vascular diseases (critical limb ischemia, extensive phlebothrombosis, aortic dissection). In addition to the standard inpatient facilities, the clinic is equipped with 3 fully equipped intensive care units (Coronary Unit, Antiarrhythmic Unit, Intensive Angiological Care Unit) and a total of 5 catheterization rooms (2 designed for coronary intervention and haemodynamic examinations, 2 for electrophysiological interventions and implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, 1 for peripheral artery disease). Outpatient care is provided both in the clinic itself in the VFN premises and in the clinic department on Charles Square 32, where the fully equipped cardiology clinic with a comprehensive non-invasive examination program is located in the 4th floor of Building B.

In addition to highly specialized intensive care, the clinic also provides treatment to patients with chronic forms of coronary heart disease, heart rhythm disorders (including cardiac pacemaker implantation, implantable defibrillators and radiofrequency ablations), patients with chronic lower limb disease (including stentgraft implantation program for abdominal aneurysms) aorta). A program for rare diseases such as cardiomyopathy and myocarditis is being developed. A completely specialized area of activity is the care of patients with Fabry disease - a rare metabolic disease. The Center of Pulmonary Hypertension, the largest of this type in the Czech Republic and the only one in cooperation with II. endarterectomy of pulmonary artery in patients with chronic thromboembolic disease was developed by the surgical clinic of cardiovascular surgery.
