Workplace characteristics

The institute is a comprehensive and consular workplace in the field of forensic medicine, providing autoptic examinations using special methods of immunohistochemistry. The Institute of Forensic Medicine covers assessment activities for bodies active in criminal proceedings in the capital city. m. Prague and in the Central Bohemian Region. In addition to basic pathomorphological diagnostics, the institute is focused on the research of vital reactions of injuries, forensic neuropathology, heart and vascular diseases and the diagnosis of pathomorphological changes in persons addicted to narcotics and psychotropic substances. New methods for immunohistochemical examinations are being used on an ongoing basis. The staff of the institute performs 1,200 autopsies of deaths a year by sudden and violent death.
